Caravan Band leader Younes al Makboul was born in Morocco. As a young child he studied at the Morocco Conservatory of Music in Fez and learned percussion and oud as well as violin and singing. He performed at the Shangrila Hotel and later moved to Dubai to work with an Arabic band. In 2009 he moved to San Francisco where he immediately joined Aswat, the Bay Area’s premier Arabic music ensemble. In addition to teaching and becoming musical director at Aswat, he also joined the Pasha Band. Today besides leading, playand and singing in Caravan Band, he also plays regularly at Tannourine and El Morocco Restaurants with Khalil Abboud. In his spare time he plays music with many other local musicians. Younes also owns he own limo service.

The Caravan Band plays at Al Masri Egyptian Restaurant 4031 Balboa St. San Francisco every first Sunday of the month.
